Jamie Hess, owner of Groove Merchants is running a jam this Sunday at Cluggy’s Skatepark in Chambersburg, PA. If you’re looking for a super fun place to ride, be sure and check it out. Groove is the only core BMX shop in probably 100 miles, and if there’s one thing they’re down for, it’s a good time. We went pretty crazy with the prizes and are actually going to fly the winner of the pro class out here to CA to where he’ll get to build up a new frame and ride with the team guys, so it should be pretty good. If drinking beer, eating hot dogs, and throwing down sounds like a good way to spend a Sunday, make the trip to PA. It’s definitely going to be worth it. Shit’s guaranteed to get loose.

This Past weekend, Josh Harrington and myself went to Orlando Florida with Vans Shoes to teach and hang out with 30 kids that signed up for the clinic. At the end of the day we gave away a new Premium Bike, and Aaron was the lucky kid to win it!
It was a great time hanging out with the kids and there's another camp this weekend at the Vans Park Orange County, CA with a ticket or two left I believe...

Reynolds... Just getting over a leg injury from Estonia were a beast of a street rider took him out! He got the fluid drained and he's getting better every day. The incident took him out of the finals... Was that a $5000 accident?

Sean Ricany.. Have you seen him on TV lately? "Tony Hawk! Tony Hawk!" haha the kid is cool. Check out the Fuel Woodward episode's on at the moment...
Sean has also just started riding after a small knee operation...

Darden... Just enjoying being a Dad, cutting laps at "The Unit" between diaper changes then off to the LG Box jump series soon...

Sorry lady's Dan Foley is off the market, especially when he has a girlfriend who paints his frame for him.

Dan checked in with this update..

"So my girlfriend disliked the green color I painted my bike a while ago so much that she told me she'd paint it if I bought some spray paint. I was sort of sick of the green myself, so we went to the store, got some spray paint, and this is the result. I also threw on some of the new stickers and the red pedals I got in the box of stuff that showed up here yesterday. The pedals add a nice little touch of color I think. I'm quite happy with how my bike looks now."

We got lil Sean a custom painted Guttershark frame, Whiskey Bars, Taperlite Forks, and 16 Spline cranks as a get well soon present. He just had knee surgery so he probably won't be able to ride for another 3 days. He's 15, so I think max recovery time for any injury is a week and a half. This frame is a 20.8 so Sean will have to grow into it, but with all Premium parts it weighs 19.75lbs minus chain. Sean will be shredding again in no time!

Firstly, we are proud to announce a re-sign with Josh Harrington to the Premium squad for 2010 and 2011, Josh has been riding for Premium since day one and we look forward to seeing him shred this year. He is currently in Florida filming for his new video, "Still Serching" a follow up from Josh's 2008 Video "End Serch". Check this Premium web vid for a few months ago, you can never get enough of Harrington!

Secondly we are working behind the scenes on an all new (from scratch) Premium Products site. We pumped for the release around the end of this month. All bio's we be updated, that means Foley, JJ, Kerley and Ricany will finally be on the site! All new pics and a fresh video to drop the same day from guy on the team that has been blowing up lately... You'll have to wait for that one..

Premium Team at the Rye Airfield Jam

This past weekend JJ, Lil Sean, Dan Foley and Garrett Reynolds ventured to the "Wicked Jam" at Rye Airfield, one of the premier parks in America located in New Hampshire.
The weekend started off with almost 70 degree (F) weather and ended in 28 degree (F) full on winter conditions..
Between the weather change the guys rode a bunch and competed in the Park and Street contest, although this event doesn't feel to much like a contest, everyone just rides and has fun, and the stop watch isn't so important, if you want to try something, people want to see it!
There's been a lot of hype on Foley lately so it was good for him to get out of Greenville and go shred a park he said was one of his new favorites for sure. Dan did pretty well is the Street Jam coming in 5th.
Lil Sean rode all day everyday and its really amazing what he can do on a bike that's way too big for him, when he manual's he looks through his handle bars! Sean entered Pro for fun and easily hung in that class. The Kid rules
JJ rode each day up until the contest but was having some knee troubles, and with a Deadline trip coming up he opted to sit the comp out.
Garrett probably Skated more than he rode and absolutely murdered prelims qualifying in 1st. The next day for finals he had a rough couple of runs but ended really well 360 bar to bar gapping over 12 feet to fakie, you have to see the clip...

Being just 15 years old and being part of the Premium Products flow team must be pretty cool, See what Chad has going on and find out that he's not really the all American kid.

So Chad what's happening?
Nothing much, just filming with Christian Rigal for my new Premium
edit that should be out pretty soon, riding my ramp a lot, and going
to school.

So its pretty much winter now, does that even matter when you live in San
Diego?
Nope, it's still really hot and sunny, the only thing that sucks about
this time of year is that it gets dark really early! When i get out of
school i only have 2 hours left to ride.

You have a back yard ramp now, when are we going to see some footage on it?
We should see some footage on it when my new Premium edit comes out, I
still have to film some stuff on it with Christian.

I met your Mum the other day and she's from England, so that makes you partly from England.. Have you been there before?
Yeah my mom's from England and she took me there as a toddler but i
really want to go back so I can ride some spots down there!

What's your dream ramp set up?
Exactly what I have, (6 foot mini with a 5 foot spine) but with a lot
of hips that go on forever and do some 270 tricks.

What's your dream street set up?
My dream street set-up would be a bunch of manual pads with some drops
at the end. A few ledges and tall flat rails, and a nice stair set.

could well have been in a DVD release. I caught up with Dan to see whats
up...

Dan, you have your first web video for premium products about to drop, are you excited?
Yeah I'm pretty excited. I think this is the most time and effort I've put into a web video before and Terrell did a really good job putting it all together so I'm happy to see it come out.

Where did you film for the video?
Jaycee skatepark, the Unit, and some street around Greenville.

These days people are putting videos out after a 1 hour session, you
seam to be more into taking your time, why's that?
I guess because it's pretty rewarding going through the whole filming process and seeing everything come together over time. Quick edits are cool too, but throwing something together really quick just doesn't compare to seeing something you've worked on a good bit come together. I also wanted to get a decent variety of clips for this edit, since it's the first one I've done for Premium.

What's your dream set up for a ramp?
Probably anything that you can ride like trails. Rays mtb park is probably my dream ramp set up haha. That place is the best.

Dream set up for Street?
A sea of curb pads, flat and banked, of all sorts of shapes and sizes. That would be so good!

Anything in the works for you coming up?
I've got nothing planned really.

The video is getting polished up by filmer/editor Terrell Gordy and
should be online within the week. I've had a sneak peak and believe me
there's some new moves in there all the kids will be doing once this
vid drops...

Premium Team Trip Weekend Away

This Past weekend, Haro team riders Marcus Tooker, Allan Cooke, and myself (Colin Mackay) joined Premium team riders Dan Foley, Josh Harrington and Rob Darden on a 6 hr drive from Greenville, NC up to Maryland.

Our first stop was the Charm City skate part in Baltimore. This Park has a bunch of fairly small ramps and obstacles but the guys still had a good session. Josh and Rob played on the drive way section and Dan enjoyed riding the park he used to ride all the time being from the Baltimore area. Allan got some nice clips showing his brake-less / free coaster style and Marcus blasted super high on the wall-ride out of the bowl. The turn out was massive, there wasn't much deck space and if you wanted to drop in you had to be hungry or you would be sitting on the deck all day!

Our next stop was the Groove Merchants BMX shop in Martinsburg,West Virginia. We were welcomed by a bunch of local riders and if you get a chance to go to the store you should, its a proper BMX shop, they have all the latest Haro and Premium bikes as well as anything else you desire, its well stocked!

After some hot dogs, we headed to a nearby car park for a bunny hop contest and we were impressed with the locals, they can hop! The top 3 locals won prizes from Haro and Premium and Dan Foley put on a pro demo and took the highest mark with 43 inches.

It was cool to hang out with everyone and check back soon for a web video from the weekend.. Thanks a lot to the Charm City park and especially everyone at Groove Merchants for welcoming us and hooking us up Dinner.

Garrett Reynolds in Dew Tour points lead

Premium Products rider Garrett Reynolds is in control of the Dew Tour points race as we come up to the last stop in Orlando Florida, October 16-18. Garrett took another second place yesterday in Salt Lake City, Utah with a full one minute of action including 360 bar to bar drop in and a bar spin to wall ride on a wall that was 12ft back.
Garrett came from 12 place to second place after he had some mistakes in his first run.
Tune in to see if Garrett can take home the cash and the Dew cup next month.

Today was good. Garrett was #1 qualifier in Street at X-Games. Darden was #2 qualifier in prelims of Park.

Nike 6.0 HB BMX PRO

This weekend was the Nike 6.0 BMX Pro in Huntington Beach. It was in collaboration with the US Open of Surf. I lived in Huntington for 2 years and I had never seen it as busy as it was on the weekend. Hot sun, babes in bikinis, and BMX. Here's how it went down...

The event was 4 days long, each rider had two 45 second runs per day, and although each day was it's own contest with a $1000 first place cash prize; total points tallied from the first 3 days decided the top 10 guys to be competing in the finals on day 4.

Rob Darden finished 9th the first day, and 3rd the second day, but had family plans on the 3rd day so that kept him out of the overall top 10 for the finals. He rode well and was going higher than anyone on the biggest quarter by at least 2 feet.

Garrett was off the chain as usual. 3rd the first day, 4th the second day, two crashes on day 3 and he still ended up in the top 10, and a 6th in the final on Sunday. Not bad

Just wanted to post up a couple of photos of Trails Ryan. He broke out his front teeth on his Premium 8.25" bars, doesn't care, and says chicks give him love out of sympathy.

Dew Tour Stop 1 Chicago Illinois, June 24th- 27th.

The first stop on the 2009 Dew Tour series was held at a new location in Chicago, Illinois June 24th– 27th 2009.

Long time Premium Products rider Josh Harrington made it through the open qualification in 1st place against 50 other open competitors, to try out in the preliminary rounds the following day where he joined previously qualified from last years points Rob Darden and Garrett Reynolds and they would all compete for a shot at the finals.

Josh may have rode a little better in the open qualifier, and managed 23rd place with tricks like bar-spin to bar-spin back drop in off the 8ft wall, and a seat grab bar-spin move over the box jump.

Rob Darden continues his focused goals in BMX with a great 2nd run in prelims after going down hard in run 1. Rob killed it and did nothing wrong in his 11th place finish that included more flow than most riders on the course and a dialed 720 truck-driver over the box. Rob was unlucky not to make the final in Chicago, but I’m sure the next stop in Portland will be a different story.

The freshly graduated from high school Premium Products rider that makes everything look really easy, Garrett Reynolds killed prelims in 2nd place, and into the finals he continued his mix of ramp and street skills to finish on the podium in 2nd. Garrett is on top of his game and is probably the only rider that has no foam pit experience that can dominate a Dew tour stop. He packs probably twice as many tricks into his run that other competitors and includes tricks that he can only do including a massive start with a bar to bar 360 drop in of the wall, manual to no hander held stretched the whole drop, curved wall ride to no-hander, and a 360 no-hander drop like it was over a dirt jump. The kid is on fire and its great to see.

Rob Darden was the only Premium Products rider to compete in Dirt and with 720’s in both runs on different sets in the final; he managed an impressive … place finish against a tough final.

Garrett Reynolds was selected to pick a 3 man team to compete in a new Street class that the riders utilized a course designed with rails and ledges and the 3 teams had to film over 2 days and the chosen winners were based on the video part that came out at the end. I got to see first hand a demo that was 30% based on the judges decision and It looked like Garrett’s team was going to take the win, but after the video was revealed, Garrett’s team come in 2nd.

The Premium Products team looks forward to the 2nd round in Portland Oregon, August 13th-16.

I am heading home from the first stop of the Dew Tour in Chicago. The contest went pretty well. I just missed the finals in park, I had a pretty decent crash in my first run doing a one hand flatty, I missed my hand and shoulder checked the ground pretty good. I came through with a decent second run but just missed out. I ended up in 6th place in the dirt finals which I was more then happy with, the jumps were made out of pure gravel, I think by the end of the day I was more happy that I didn't crash on dirt then anything else.

I am going to chill this week and let my body recover cause I am off to Germany in a week for the Worlds. Really looking forward to going over seas.

I just got home yesterday from Montpellier France for the Fise contest. I took my wife Allison for our two year anniversary which was the Monday before event, she had never been over seas so it was a great experience for the both of us. I ended up getting 3rd in dirt and 8th in park, not a bad week.

We had a 12 hour layover on our way home in Paris so we took a train to see the Eiffel Tower and walk around the city all night.

Also a pic from the event, this is one trick that never gets old for me. I have to thank Corey Bohan for the inspiration, cheers mate!

Today I am flying out to Cali for Ryan Nyquist's contest Warrior's Of Wood, Ryan has been sending photo's and doing updates online for the event and it looks amazing! Going to spend a week out there for the event and visit my family and old friends, good times for sure!

The best part is, Garrett called me 4 days before departure and told me he forgot to book a flight so we got him a last minute trip to China.

Hopefully 3rd place podium came with a free laptop or some electronics of some kind.
